Home Passover Seder Table Set-Up

Per Person: In addition to the meal, this is the set-up required for each participant at the table.

1 small plate with the following placed in this order: 1 sprig of parsley, 1 small scoop of horseradish, 1 scoop of charoset (see recipe below), 1 quarter slice of a hard-boiled egg

1 spoon or fork and napkin for each participant to partake of the elements, especially with the horseradish and charoset.

1 cup for grape juice or wine.

A copy of the Hagada per person. (document available on our website, 14 pages can be printed front and back and stapled)

Per Table:

The table should be covered by a white tablecloth.

2 new standard white candles in candleholders (matches or lighter to light candles).

1 plate with 3 matzos. This is symbolic and will not be eaten. These 3 matzos are to have a napkin on the bottom and top of the pile and one napkin in-between, separating each matzo (4 napkins). There should also be one extra napkin available under that plate that will be used later when the middle matzo is broken and half of it is wrapped up and hidden.

1 other plate with 4 or 5 individual matzos on it. No need to cover this one, it is for eating.

A small bowl filled with water and mixed with salt so that the water tastes salty.

1 bowl with tap water for hand washing and a towel to dry hands.

Grape juice and/or wine, depending on the number of people at the table (enough for 4 small cups per participant)

Charoset Recipe

7 apples of mixed varieties

1/4 tsp cinnamon (leave out if people are allergic)

1 mashed banana

Optional: 1/4 cup chopped raisins or dates

Optional: honey to taste

Optional: sweet wine or grape juice (enough to make it moist, not watery)

Please don’t use any nuts.

Peel, core and dice the apples. They should be the consistency of relish. Mix with remaining

ingredients. Generously serves 10-14. Allow apples to turn brown from exposure to air. The mixture should be a brownish color.
