This week Rabbi Glenn completed Nehemiah 1 and began Nehemiah 2 – Nehemiah’s petition to the king to be allowed to return to and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, and how God gave Nehemiah favor with the king. One area highlighted was the role of prayer and fasting and committing things (especially important matters) to Adonai prior to human engagement asking Him to give us favor with those who are decision makers. Another theme covered was the fact that this work of rebuilding Jerusalem was met with some opposition and that the work of God inevitably has its detractors and opponents. We should not allow ourselves to become discouraged even though we may be a small remnant like the remnant who returned from captivity.
