A Passover Greeting from Rabbi Loren, Senior Rabbi of Congregation Shema Yisrael

Happy Passover! I’m delighted that you may be interested in joining us for Passover. Since we’re different from most synagogues, let me explain some of the things that make us different:

*We believe that Judaism and Christianity were designed to be connected – that the Old Testament foretold the arrival of the Messiah; that the Old Testament anticipates the New Testament; that the New Testament fulfills the Old Testament. For example, Passover celebrates the supernatural deliverance of an enslaved people from the Egyptians and Yeshua (Jesus) died on Passover to deliver us from the things that enslave us. Another example: the amazing prophecy about the rejection of the Messiah found in Isaiah chapter 53.

*We believe that Christianity is Jewish because it has a Jewish foundation. We believe that Jesus is the Messiah, and that He was (and is) the most Jewish person who ever lived. His first followers were Jewish, as were the writers of the New Testament. Did you know that a Messianic Jewish Community existed in Israel hundreds of years after Yeshua arrived?

*Our community is comprised of Jewish people who believe that Jesus is the Messiah, Jewish people who are in the process of investigating Yeshua’s claims, and “kosher-hearted” Gentiles who want to learn more about the Jewish roots of their Christian faith. If you want to see my story, how I became a Jewish follower of Jesus, go to Kosher? Kosher.

*We believe that God is a person and that it’s possible to know Him in a personal way. We believe that Jesus lived a perfect life, died to make atonement for us, and then came back to life. We believe He’s alive now, the risen and powerful Messiah. We believe that He’s the key that unlocks a personal relationship to God; that knowing Yeshua enables us to have a more meaningful life; that knowing Him helps everything make sense; and that by becoming loyal to Him, we receive eternal life.

*If you are a believer, seeker or skeptic and are interested in celebrating Passover with us and with Jesus the Messiah, go to shema.com/passover and sign up for our Seder.

*If you can’t join us for Passover but want to know more, go to What Is Messianic Judaism?, or call us at 248-593-5150, or join us for a worship service any Saturday morning at 10:30 am at Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church, 3600 Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills.

May you have a happy and blessed Passover because of Yeshua the Messiah who died on Passover and came back to life, making eternal life possible for those who know Him and become loyal to Him
